What is the difference between an escalator and an elevator

Escalator

• An escalator is a transport equipment with a circulating running step, which is used to continuously transport passengers upward ordownward. Looking straight, it looks like a moving staircase, accompanied by a moving handrail.
• The rotation of the escalator is not complicated. It is two step chains moving on the low-speed sprocket driven by the reducer, and the step are hinged at the corresponding positions. The technical feature of the escalator is the horizontal maintenance of the step in the use section, which is controlled by the step roller on the lever under the pedal running in the guide.
•  Each step of the escalator is equipped with a safety floor cover to prevent passengers' feet from entering the movement section, and a safety device comb shovel is also provided at the end of the escalator.
• The step and the chain are hinged, but there is a small wheel at the end of the lever fixed on both ends of the step. The small wheel runs in the guide groove on the side to keep the step level. However, when turning to the lower part, all steps are flat.

Elevator

Elevator is a fixed lifting and transportation equipment used in high-rise buildings. It has a car carrying passengers and runs between floors along a guide rail with a vertical or inclination angle less than 15 °.

• car: it is a part similar to a car that directly carries passengers. It is generally a closed box after the door is closed.
• car door: the door of the car, which is automatically opened and closed by passengers from the car. It follows the car up and down.
• landing door (or hall door): the door set at the entrance of the elevator on each floor. It does not run up and down with the elevator, but opens or closes with the car door.
• call box: it is set beside the entrance landing door of the elevator on each floor, and there are generally two buttons with arrows on the upper and lower sides for passengers to call the car to the landing.
• control panel in the car: installed on the inner wall of the car, there are digital buttons representing each floor, door opening and closing buttons and emergency call buttons, which are mainly used for passengers to select the destination floor after entering the elevator.
