Escalator operation method and accident emergency treatment

1.How to operate the escalator

For the safety of passengers, the operator needs to operate the escalator carefully. The escalator must come to a complete stop before changing the direction of travel. When stopping or starting an escalator, it must be ensured that there are no passengers on the steps.

1.1 Start method

(1) Activate with the key "switch" and take out the key in the middle position.

(2) Start the "buzzer" with the key

(3) If everything is normal, start the escalator with the key, keep this position for 0.5~1.0 seconds, and then take out the key.

1.2 Stop

(1) Make sure there are no passengers on the escalator.

(2) Start the "buzzer" with the key.

(3) Use the key to close the escalator.

(4) Use the key to turn off the "switch" and take out the key in the middle.

1.3 Temporarily change direction

Stop the escalator first. Do not change the running direction until the escalator has come to a complete stop, otherwise its mechanical structure will be damaged. If the escalator runs in one direction for 3 months, the escalator should be changed to run in one direction

2.Emergency Response Guidelines

1. Escalator stop

(1) Misuse of the emergency time-out system

When it is found that the escalator has stopped because the emergency stop system has been turned off, it should be turned on again.

NOTE: When reopening, make sure there are no passengers on the escalator.

(2) Power failure

When the power supply returns to normal, the escalator can be turned on with the switch.

NOTE: In the event of a power failure, the loudspeaker should be used to indicate to passengers.

(3) The location of abnormal noise and vibration (for example: top, bottom or middle), condition (continuous or intermittent), etc., then close the escalator and notify the maintenance personnel to repair.

(4) Odor or smoke

Shut down the escalator, take appropriate action and notify maintenance personnel when odor or smoke is detected.

(5) Others

When the glass baseboard is found to be broken, immediately shut down the escalator and notify the maintenance personnel to replace it.

2. Fire alarm

In the event of a fire, remain calm and take appropriate action.

(1) Use a loudspeaker to notify everyone in the building.

(2) Stop all escalators and close fire doors.

(3) Do not use the escalator for escape purposes, because the escalator suddenly stops when the power is interrupted, and passengers are prone to accidents and greater panic.

(4) Lead passengers to escape through the stairs.

(5) Note: Before closing the escalator, sound the alarm bell to remind passengers and make sure that there are no passengers on the escalator.

3. Immersion in water

When the escalator is immersed in water, the escalator should be closed immediately. If there is water flow around the escalator, block the water flow to protect the escalator and notify the maintenance personnel to check the parts. The escalator must not be used until the maintenance personnel have inspected the mechanism.
