Repair and maintenance of escalator chain

1. Inspection of step chain

The step chain shall be checked in the lower machine room

The two step chains must be tightened evenly. If the tension is appropriate, the tension spring shall be compressed to a length of 80mm (too small tension will cause knocking noise)

Check the engagement between the step and the comb teeth. If the step is slightly inclined compared with the comb teeth, slightly increase the tension on one side until the step is adjusted.

The step chain needs to be readjusted after 1-2 months of normal operation of the escalator.

The two chain breaking protection switch contacts are adjusted as required. If the step is squeezed, the chain is blocked or the chain is too long (broken), the chain breaking contact will cut off the power supply of the escalator.

2. Step chain lubrication (without automatic lubrication device)

This work is carried out in the lower machine room. Let the chain run upward and lubricate it with an oil pot or brush.

3. Drive chain tightening

When 8 kg force is applied to the empty chain after tensioning, the strip shall have a sag of 12-15mm.

4. Drive chain lubrication (without automatic lubrication device)

Lubricate the drive chain in the upper machine room.

5. Tighten the handrail drive chain

The handrail drive chain is located between the step drive shaft and the handrail drive shaft. After removing the three inspection steps, run the opening to the front of the upper comb plate and access the handrail drive chain through this opening.

6. Handrail drive chain lubrication (without automatic lubrication device)

A small amount of grease can be used to lubricate the armrest drive chain.
