Regular cleaning of escalator steps is key to safety, hygiene, and longevity.
Benefits:
  • Safety First:   Removes debris, grime, or spills that could cause slips, trips, or jams, protecting users and preventing accidents.
  • Hygiene Boost:   Eliminates bacteria, dust, and germs, especially in high-traffic areas like malls or transit hubs, keeping spaces healthy.
  • Longer Lifespan: Prevents dirt buildup from wearing down mechanical parts, reducing maintenance costs and extending the escalator’s life.
Tips:
  • Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners to avoid damaging surfaces.
  • Clean during off-peak hours to minimize disruption.
  • Ensure steps are fully dry before restarting to prevent slips.

Escalator Step Cleaning Operation Guide
1. Preparation
  • Power off the escalator and lock it with a safety tag to prevent accidental startup.
  • Gather necessary tools: soft-bristled brush, microfiber cloth, mild detergent (neutral pH), bucket of warm water, and a dry towel.
  • Clear loose debris (e.g., dirt, small objects) from steps using a brush or vacuum.
2. Cleaning Process
  • Dilute the mild detergent in warm water according to the product instructions.
  • Dip the microfiber cloth in the solution, wring it out thoroughly to avoid excess water.
  • Wipe each step surface, focusing on grooves and edges where dirt accumulates. Use the soft brush for stubborn stains, applying gentle pressure.
  • After cleaning with detergent, wipe steps again with a cloth dampened in clean water to remove residue.
3. Drying & Inspection
  • Use a dry towel to thoroughly dry all steps, ensuring no moisture remains—this prevents slipping when the escalator is restarted.
  • Check for missed spots or remaining debris. Inspect the step edges and grooves to confirm cleanliness.
4. Restart
  • Remove the safety tag, unlock the escalator, and power it on briefly to test operation. Ensure it runs smoothly before allowing public use.
Notes
  • Never use harsh chemicals (e.g., bleach, abrasive cleaners) as they can damage step surfaces or mechanical components.
  • Avoid excessive water, which may seep into internal parts and cause malfunctions.
  • Clean at least once a week in high-traffic areas; adjust frequency based on usage.
